'Criminals', Trees and Picking up Cotton

Friday August 31 2007

If I had to think of a word to describe the action of the 'criminals' who liberated about 20 metres of copper piping from the side of our studio thus...

Carts

Thursday July 19 2007

I think the problem with animation is that we have to build things first. The said things are from 1095 and we have a basic gist of what they look like and what they do but I'm currently building a horse drawn cart. The driving and turning mechanism is quite difficult...

June

Saturday July 7 2007

The purpose of Jacob and I traveling around the world for the last month was to solely find white 16mm diameter 4mm center hole plastic beads. And as much as I'd like to say mission accomplished the aircraft carrier in me won't allow it. New York, Frankfurt,...

Microwaving Cereal, 2009 Calendars and Minerals Carried by Rain

Tuesday May 29 2007

Microwaving cereal doesn't make it dinner. Professor pebbles is totally done. So much so that Bernard Derriman has seen it and asked about the next one... he obviously has a calendar that goes up to 2009. Boy I hope our executive producer doesn't read this as our due date is June 30th as in 35 days away...

In the Can, Hooking Up and Starving Raccoons

Thursday May 3 2007

Professor Pebbles is technically finished. I believe all parties have signed off on it, thus making the film "in the can". We have been knocked back from two festivals that would have really been nice to get into. Sydney picked us up which is good......

Static Electricity, M&M and Galahs

Tuesday April 14 2009

Image from West Australian

Have I told you about the static electricity in the building? With the dry heat, humble reader, the static comes out of the walls like "brown wood roaches onto a bin crudely made by hanging a plastic bag on a nail, that, yes I did say I was going to put out - but c'mon baby - I’m relaxing". Well that’s pretty much it, I guess we have become so scared by it that I carry a small piece of metal that I use to ground myself before I touch something earthed. I get tense when I need to touch something. I got a shock from the water as I washed my hands. I hate it and my arm recoils from things so hard that if someone was behind me with a tray of drinks… splash-a-roony. So yes.. static. I hate it.

Mary & Max is out this weekend. It’s the word and brilliant and getting great reviews. AdamE and MelC were in town doing Q&A’s and it was great to catch up with them. Adam is charming and I am possessed and struck by his awe, I am but a humble servant in his shadow, willing to kill or maim for him… he was a gracious director to work for and who would have thought good people exist out there in the film racket. Erm.. so the film is brilliant and solid and even Seymour said it was good even though there wasn’t any car chases or corny lines with a guitar wail as punctuation. So, go see that film.

Well I’ve been back from Melbs for 6-7months? And I’ve produced the two main figures for CEDRIC & HOPE. But we’ve put all that aside to make a side Nicktoons project - I workingly title “Backstage”. Bout some kids... they do stuff. Anyhoo a friend is in town to help construct the theatre which looks stunning. Daniel Agdag, who is from the same country as Cher. Dan and I had a very unfortunate and confused article in the West Australian which is best left to die but it was supposed to be for Mary & Max publicity but kinda looked like an article promoting NAMBLA…. Too much Daily Show. I made a light switch for Emma Fletcher. It took a week and a bit and was a strange experience. The switch had nothing to do with anything but Emma Fletcher stuff.

We have taken to feeding the local Galahs but I will not bore you with these non-filmic facts but I have named them, and I rename them every time I see them as they are all exactly the same in all ways thus impossible to tell apart. Some look dirty. I want to give them a bath sometimes…
