Finishing Backstage, Car Crashes & Swapmeets

In the studio it's so cold that I turn on the heat gun and hang it from a nail. If you hear that the studio had burnt down then it's probably that or the latex oven that's set to full and door-less. ...
Static Electricity, M&M and Galahs
Tuesday April 14 2009
Have I told you about the static electricity in the building? With the dry heat, humble reader, the static comes out of the walls like "brown wood roaches onto a bin crudely made by hanging a plastic bag on a nail, that, yes I did say I was going to put out - but c'mon baby - I’m relaxing"...
Hot Glue, Scene 13 and being daunted...

Ahh Perth… sunny, dry and far from where you have to be in 10 mins... yes I might concede that the public transport system takes a little longer but meh.. So for the last 7 months I’ve been in Melbourne doing some guff and bunk on a stop- mo feature which...
AA, Apostrophes and Abraham Lincoln
Friday February 1 2008
Currently I'm in Melbourne and will be here for 5 months. I have another stint of 'Max and Mary' the Adam Elliot stop-motion feature. I'm an Animation Assistant which we call an AA to save time - as enough is wasted building cabinets that I swore I measured...
6 weeks, tasty skills and top shelves
Tuesday November 13 2007
Hmm... well for the last 6 weeks I’ve been working over in Melbourne-icanic-o-tron-land tempest place... on a stop motion feature film called Mary and Max. My position was called 'slashing' which is the verb for 'slasher' the noun. This role was a hybrid of Animation assisting and model making...

Hot Glue, Scene 13 and being daunted...
Friday September 5 2008
Ahh Perth… sunny, dry and far from where you have to be in 10 mins... yes I might concede that the public transport system takes a little longer but meh.. So for the last 7 months I’ve been in Melbourne doing some guff and bunk on a stop- mo feature which has been excellent in terms of developing my skills in the animation racket but not so good for the layers of dust on the sets and construction for CEDRIC and HOPE.. But what is dust?
So I don’t know if I should list all the things I’ve learned or if I should list the products but Hot Glue and Lighter Fluid was probably the top, and not just normal Hot Glue, the expensive oddly shaped $1 a stick and you can only be used with the expensive $300 hot glue gun. So many new products that I can’t believe I did with out. So many new products that if inhaled will cause all kinds of terrible things. Metal work is my next big thing, I must buy a lathe and lathe things. People can bring things over and I would lathe it down to something lathe-ie-er.
Returning to the studio is soon my regular thingo, I’m a little behind on set construction and Steve will be building also. Seems most concepts of sets are done but the rest of the construction seems insurmountable and daunting. I might sculpt till I can’t move my little fingers anymore. Trees I’ve found can be purchased off the internet rather than sculpted with wire foam and plaster… theres so many sets, and so many characters and figures, what was I thinking when I wrote Scene 13, why didn’t I end it after scene 8, is scene 4 really necessary? Scene 6 is like a massive thing for one gag, and it really could do with a scene 15…
I’m also into sculpy and superglue. But enough about me, how are you? Phew, I’m a bit rusty on these reports. Ormonoid… that’s a good product. It's bitumen paint but you can spray it on things with water spary and it looks old. Bitumen…bitumen… bitumen... becomes non sensical doesn’t it.
So now I have to work on rebuilding my relationship with my 2 cats, Neville and Shaft the Second and rework CEDRIC and HOPE and then make the film. Also I need to get my mind back as its turned to mush… mush… mush…
